It's Never Too Late To Start Something New

There are many things we want to do in life. But due to some unforeseeable circumstances we aren't able to do them. It might be due to family pressure, financial problem, family responsibility or any other reason due to which we aren't able to do what we desire as a result we give up on our dreams. We don't follow what we want. The feeling of unable to follow our heart at right time continues to haunt us, disturb us for rest of our life, and "should have", "could have", "if's and but's" start ruling  our thought process.

Also there are many other things we find interesting as we grow old.  We yearn to do them but the thought "I am too old", " I won't be able to do it", "It's too late", "I don't have much time" etc hampers our thought process and distracts us from following it, as a result of which we forego on our dreams.

Like it's said "There's no specific age of learning." You learn things throughout your life. In same way  'It's never too late to learn anything new" or " begin anything new". You just have to take the first step and the rest will unfold. There are many people out there who proved that age is just a number.. You are never too old to do what you desire, to do what you want. All you have to do is take the first step towards your dreams, your goals and rest will follow.  Some examples are:

1) Atul Khatri (Comedian) :

Atul Khatri , a 40+ guy , a successful businessman, in 2011 decided to pursue an alternative career. He initially looked on at many other intriguing opportunities before finally settling on to be a stand up comedian. He started his career as a comedian by posting jokes on Facebook and later became a stand-up comedian. He became notable after winning the "CEO's Got Talent" award by Fremantle Media. He has done over 400 comedy shows and YouTube videos. He also featured in television advertisements of Amazon, Muthoot Finance, Rebtel, Aegon Religare Insurance, Philips, and Matrix SIM card.

This is surely a remarkable achievement. Atul Khatri successfully proved that it's never too late to start something new. You just have to take first step towards your goal as age is just a number.

2) Manish Tyagi ( Comedian) :

Manish Tyagi, another guy who proved that it's never too late to start something new. Manish Tyagi, a retired commander of the Indian Navy,  is now a stand-up comedian. Chances of coming across a Naval Commander who is a stand-up comedian in his post-retirement career is of course rare and starting at the age of 48 is nothing short of an achievement in itself.

3) Heena Sidhu and Elena Galiabovitch  ( Shooter) :

2018 Commonwealth Game's women’s 25 meter air pistol event final was a memorable one as it was Dentist Heena Sidhu from India vs Doctor Elena Galiabovitch from Australia. We all know that Doctorate's study is the toughest one and despite that both the players were able to achieve so much in area of sports. Heena Sidhu has won 15 medals while Elena Galiabovitch has won 8 medals in last 9 years which in itself a remarkable achievement. These talented girls never ever let that thought cross their mind that they don't have time for other things as they were involved in tough studies. They followed what they desired and now they are stars in their field and icons for many. And they are just 28 years old, which proves that you have enough time in your hands. You just have to utilise those empty spaces effectively.

So, don't let the thoughts of your age and lack of time distract you from your goals. Just follow what your heart desires and rest will follow. "If not then , then now." follow this motto for the activities and things you missed  in your early days and "If not now, then never" for things you find intriguing now. Just go buy it and you will have all what your heart desires

Changing Trends Of Sports In India

Sports. In some way or other we all love sports, either watching it or playing it. India has shown a tremendous growth in the field of sports in past decade or so. Since past few years Indian athletes have performed exceptionally well at international level and have earned glory for India.

So, what do you think is the reason behind the exceptional performance of Indian players at an international level???

No doubt, leagues... Do you know how many leagues are there in India?? There are currently 9 major leagues in India.. Many other leagues were started in past decade or so but they were ceased after a year or two.

Now moving on to individual leagues:

CRICKET:

Cricket, the most loved sport in India. Performance of Indian Cricket Team at a international level has improved a lot, and the credit of it mostly goes to IPL. First major league that was successfully organised and had foreign players too. Our young players learned a lot from them which helped them a lot in improving their game. Also the current playing XI , which is regarded as the dangerous in the world is also a gift of the IPL. Like globalization benefited Indian economy, in the same way IPL benefited Indian Cricket.

It was such a big achievement in the field of Indian sports that it set up the platform or trend for other sports to follow.

KABADDI:

I would say that Kabaddi was really lucky to get that love from Indian audience. Though India was an unbeatable champion at it when it was launched, but Pro Kabaddi leagues helped the selectors to select the best talent, Pro Kabaddi gave Indian Team the best, active and fit players. Also it was because of this league that we got to know this game more closely, like rules of the game, players per side plus how exactly it is played. It is such a big hit now that the bidding this year crossed 1 crore which is surely a great achievement and a symbol that Kabaddi has a great future in India.

Above are some of the key findings of Pro Kabaddi League ranging from Pradeep Narwal (won back to back titles for his team Patna pirates in PKL) to Ajay Thakur, current Indian Captain to Rahul Chaudhary and many others. So, PKL has really helped in giving future stars to Indian Team.

HOCKEY:

Hockey, which was deemed to be the national sport of India, but in actual it isn't has suffered a lot. From being unable to qualify for 2008 Beijing Olympics to finishing 12th in 2012 London Olympics, Indian Hockey team has really progressed since the onset of Hockey India League in 2013. Indian Team is currently ranked 5th in the world. Though like other sports Hockey India League  has failed to gather that love and affection from Indian audience. The prime reason for it could be the ineffective way in which it is promoted. It has failed to garden the interest of Indian audience and  bring them to stadiums. That's why 2018 season of HIL is cancelled. It is said that it will return in 2019 with modifications, but it's a set back for the players who look onto this league to mark their presence to selectors.

FOOTBALL:

Started with the aim of strengthening Indian Football Team in 2014, Indian Super League has benefited Indian Football Team a lot as they have progressed exceptionally in FIFA rankings. From being ranked 171 in 2014 to 97 as on 7 June 2018, standard of Indian Football has risen as Indian Team qualified for 2019 AFC ASIA CUP, and is looking all set to qualify for 2026 WORLD CUP.

OTHER SPORTS:

Talking about other leagues in brief which are currently new and the actual benefit from them is yet to arrive. These are team sports which are played individually. They are:
  • Premier Badminton League
  • Ultimate Table Tennis League
  • Pro Wrestling League
  • Super Boxing League
A step is taken to give more experience to our domestic players for performance at a higher intensity level and train them for next level. Indian athletes are already benefiting from these new leagues as can be seen by performance of Indian Table Tennis Team at Commonwealth Games 2018, as both male and female team won the GOLD MEDAL which in itself is a remarkable achievement.

Though a lot is still to be done to improve the performance of Indian players at international sports arena, specially at Olympics. But the progress till now is still a remarkable achievement. Also, with the increasing interest of Indian audience in other sports and viewing of sport leagues as a profitable venture by entrepreneurs, the future of sports in India is really bright.

Practice Makes A Habit

PRACTICE MAKES YOU PERFECT. In every point of life we have heard others saying this. In-fact this one is practically the mantra of math teachers and sport coaches who run the drill.  But is it really so? Does practice  really make you perfect? I don't think so. I think it's just a misconception.

The reason why it's so widely believed is because it's so close to the truth. When we try to master a skill, the way we do it is by doing that skill over and over again, until we becomes familiar with it.

What's really happening in our brain is that different parts of it are getting linked together by connections called synapses. More  we repeat the process, the stronger those synapses become. And stronger they are, the more automatic that skill is. In fact they become what we call habits. They are so ingrained into our minds that we can even do them to an extent without thinking.

But as we all know very well, we can form bad habits just as easily as we form good ones just because you practice something repeatedly that doesn't guarantee that what you're practicing is good. Like any music teacher will tell you, practicing the wrong techniques will land you in more trouble than if you hadn't practiced at all because you'll get very good at doing things in an ineffective way and then it becomes more difficult to correct and learn that as we start loving the ineffective short cut way.

It can also be seen with math and accounts students. While practicing for exams they don't set out their work properly as they don't take the time to draw proper diagrams/accounts. They just do it in a rough way and say that "I know how I'm supposed to do it and I'll do it right in the test."  But invariably they don't. Practice makes habits and they take those bad habits right into the exam hall then wonder why they didn't do well in the test.

These could be the one like, practicing the graph/diagram in a rough way. We get so used to it that we go on to repeat that in the exam hall. Other one could be missing the indicators/markings/points in the graph. When we are practicing, we just keep our attention on preparing the graphs, specially the complex one. We don't lay our attention on the markings. We just make a raw graph and doesn't mark important points thinking that we can do that in exam. But unfortunately we aren't able to do that when time arrives. We either forget to do so or aren't able to recall the important parts that are there in the diagram. Due to it we suffer. This was what happened with me in one of my exam. I almost got carried away and was preparing the diagram in a rough way. I realized that in time and corrected my mistake but wasn't able to recall the important points in the diagram.

There's another example of my friend from school. If you are a accounts student, you must be aware of the importance of writing narrations after every transaction. While practicing we don't write them thinking that they aren't important and we will write them in  the exams. This was what my friend tend to do the most. But when the time arrived, he forgot to write the narrations and did the questions in the way he used to practice which costed him more than half marks in that question.

So, the point is that practice does not make perfect, practice makes habit so be very careful with it.

Another thing I want to add is that to never involve in over practice. Practice until a certain level, as over practice creates a problem. Repeating a thing beyond a certain level results in a mental pressure which in turn deteriorates our thinking ability. It causes disturbance, makes us weak both mentally and physically due to which we aren't able to think in a different way. It sets a certain boundary creating a set pattern or habit in mind due to which we aren't able to think out of that area. Citing a example from my life, one of my exams had a gap of 9 days. So, I decided to practice with sample papers.  But,  I practiced more than what was required and I almost ended up messing my exam.
The reason for it was that the over practice resulted in setting a certain pattern in my mind which I wasn't able to overdo in that 3 hour exam.

Another example for over practicing causing problem is that of kids who are given cursive writing books to improve their writing. Parents put such a pressure on kid to involve in over practice that instead of improvement in writing, their writing deteriorates further.

So, practice in a correct manner and in limit. As over practice and wrong practice lands you in trouble.

Career Choice

There are many problems that we face in life but the toughest one is the choice regarding the career. Most of us tend to take it lightly and not pay a conscious thought to it.  We just take and follow what is offered to us. Like preference of science/commerce/arts in school. It is what I think could be seen as an alternative form of caste system. One with higher percentage is given science and they too prefer it as they have scored more and they  go for it without any other specific reason, one with lower percentage is  given  arts irrespective of their preference, rest in middle are given commerce. Though one with lower percentage can still go for Science but they don't have any specific reason for selecting it.

Only a certain percent of the students are able to make a smart selection here irrespective of the mark scored. This is what we can call as a first step  towards the right career path. But bigger hurdle arises after high school as most of us have no idea regarding field that we should select in graduation. Even  though we, but due to high competition, some of us aren't able to get the desired field mostly due to rank scored or the minimum marks required for admission.

But now the question arises, what to do next? How to be back on track, as the above circumstances weren't under our control. Post graduation though is a chance to redeem yourself, to revive your choice, to be back on track.  But there are many things which can be done at graduation level.

For instance, if you have a interest in fashion and you aren't able to get into desired fashion institute then, along with your regular graduation look for on field work opportunities. Though degree matters and add credentials but nothing can substitute the practical experience. Basic thing required is a wide imagination and knowledge of how market functions, which you develop over years. You don't need anything else.

For those, who are to make the choice regarding graduation ahead, make sure you are fully aware about the subject you are taking. Do a proper research of the course, see the subjects that will be taught there and then decide whether you want to go for it or not. And don't follow the herd. Instead look for creative and exciting new opportunities. Look for something different, something exciting.  Something your heart desires. Something which you can do for rest of your life. There's lot more in the world then doctors, engineers, MBA , CA, Bank and government jobs.

Time is changing, so are the people. Just change the way of viewing the things and you will find what you are looking for. Be carefree. Take the risk. Follow your dreams, your passion. Be you.
Here I want to add one thing, don't rely totally on your likes or hobbies. As hobbies are like feelings, they tend to change over time. You must have observed within you that the things you liked as a child or as a young teenager are much different from ones now. They tend to change with age and time. So, be absolutely sure. Do a mental  calculation of pros and cons of the things and then decide whether you will be able to do that work for your whole life or not. So, instead relying on one hobby do a self introspection and find 3 hobbies

Don't get carried away by pressure. And have patience as getting field you want isn't a quick task. It takes some time. You just have to be calm and look around with open eyes.

Some  different or unique career options which you might or might not have heard off, or might not  have given a conscious thought are:
  1. SPORTS MANAGEMENT
  2. ADVENTURE SPORTS
  3. ETHICAL HACKING
  4. FOOD FLAVORIST
  5. TEA TASTER
  6. CHOCOLATE TASTER
  7. SPORTS SCIENCE AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
  8. BUSINESS ECONOMICS
  9. LANGUAGE COURSES
  10. INTERIOR DESIGNING
  11. EVENT MANAGEMENT
  12. ANCHORING
  13. BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE
  14. BEAUTY CARE
  15. LOGO DESIGNER
  16. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL

There are many other courses which you can find at... https://career.webindia123.com/career/options/asp/alpha_listing.asp

Only few among us are clear of we want in life while the rest just tend to go with what is  there for them, and go on to continue with that all their life without thinking/ realizing whether it was what they actually wanted in their life? Don't get into a job just to add value to your CV. Instead do a job when you think it's really worth your effort and adds more value to you than to your CV. Always remember your worth. We young guys tend to give money more importance than  the type of work we will be involved in. Always remember journey always starts from the bottom. You won't immediately get what you want. It takes time. Just go on to add value to yourself, and soon you will get the pay scale you were dreaming off.

And always have a backup plan, in case the thing you desired doesn't work out.

So, make your own way.  Don't follow the herd. Be free. Do something different, something innovative, something you love.  This is your time to decide. Time to choose between Life or no life. A happy life or tired life. To make your life or to be  homogeneous with other's life. To follow the herd or make your own path.

Choice is yours

Maybe you wont get the choices again in life or maybe you will be provided with one later on. But future is unknown. Present  decisions matter the most.

So  choose wisely what to do, as everyone is not given a 2nd chance.

BE BRAVE. BE WISE. BE STRONG

Try Everything - A guide for college beginners

Life is a hectic cycle. As we grow old, we get busy in our job, family and responsibilities due to which we aren't able to get time for things we love, or things we want to learn. It becomes difficult to manage it due to shortage of time and age effect. We are so busy in the rat race that we aren't able to shift our time and attention towards those things.

For class 12th kids last few months have been quite hectic and troublesome. First preparation for board exams, then entrance exams and now the tension of admission. As you guys enter new phase of your life, there are some things I would like to share with you.

First thing is that your graduation degree won't matter much until and unless you are in IIT or any similar institute. You need to go for PG if you wish to earn good and be among the top individuals in your industry. So don't feel bad if you aren't able to get into top DU COLLEGE or in IPU, instead this is the time which should be utilized very effectively. This is the time to experiment, this is the time try new things. It is the time to do what you always desired but due to study pressure weren't able to do them. This is the time to live your dreams.

So if you want to learn swimming, then go for it, join any institute near you and start with it. Have a interest in playing guitar? Want to learn it? Then go get a guitar, join any of the classes nearby or learn from YouTube and get going. Have a passion for writing?  Start writing. It could be anything. It could be a short story, a poem, articles or better a book or start a blog like me. Have a interest in foreign languages? Want to learn them? Then search for the one you have interest in and get enrolled either in a recognized university or through embassy.  Want to act? Have a feeling that you can perform any role with perfection and deserve to be there in bollywood?  Then join a theater group in your city or a "drama community" in your college and showcase your talent. Also there are  many other communities in college, join any of the one where you find your calling. Or have a keen interest in travelling?? Then start by exploring your city.

Like this there are so many other things that you can do. All you need is a willingness to travel, willingness to move from your stable state. Set that lazy person within you aside and get going. Always remember there's a big difference between thinking about doing the thing and actually doing it. So try your hand at everything that's within your grasps, as you never know when and where you will find your true passion.

Believe me this is the best time for all this. As you have got through the tough phase of getting admission for UG. There will be no parental pressure for studies and clearing college examinations isn't a tough task. And you will have at least 2 years before you go for coaching for PG courses and seriously start studying for them. So see there's a plenty of time to do things you desire. All you need is to identify those empty spaces you have in your day and get going,.

I would like to narrate a story of one of my friend who is excellent in studies and was more into debate, quiz and similar activities during school days, joined the "Nukkad Natak" community in his college. And the way his personality changed is worth seeing. Also one of my classmate in school  had the keen interest in French language. She did foreign language course along with graduation and now she's a French Teacher in the same school. Teacher at the age off 22... Isn't it a kind of achievement? Also some of the guys I know were involved in social work for kids, which I always wanted to do in my college days but never took a proper step towards that cause.

Now 2 years after my graduation I realize the things I missed in my college days. Things that I should have done or could have opted to but due to bit laziness and unwillingness to move from my stable position, that lack of inner drive due to which I wasn't able to do those things. I failed to recognize the spaces I had in all those years, the empty spaces that weren't utilized effectively. Though I am doing them one by one now but had I gone for them at that time, things would have been lot different as they are now. I would have been more developed individual and would had much more time to do new things now

So after reading this I think you will surely realize the importance of these years of your college life plus the things you could go for in these years. You just have to set that lazy person within you aside and get going for your dreams, your desire and your "to do" list. Just enjoy these years of life as "THESE ARE THE BEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE...."

CHOICE

CHOICE

Choice smaller the word , bigger the meaning it holds. This Six Letter word has deeper insight and essence than it seems to be.

At every moment of life we face choices. Like whether to get up at 7 a.m. or not, whether to go to college or not, whether to attend lecture or not. This doesn't apply to office guys as literally they don't have a choice here. Our choices make the difference between where we are and where we could be. But do our action derive choices or choices drive us? Or both? Are choices there from very beginning or are they kind of opportunity arriving at that point of time. Dictionary defines choice as an opportunity to select something. But are opportunities always positive?? By word "opportunity"  seems so..

Choice is generally between 2 or more things. But the real challenge here is  how to classify which is a opportunity and which isn't? In the beginning we are not capable enough to judge which will be the best choice for us as roads are different for different opportunities. On this road there are some things which we like and some we don't.

Choices could be small or big, big enough to change our life, which involves the important decisions of our lives like career, goals, motives, ethics, dreams etc. But on this road of choices,  do we have an option to switch lanes or to go back to the choices that were offered, or do paths cross each other later on in life giving us a chance again to choose what me missed, to be where we could have been.

The biggest dilemma in these choices is to choose which one is the best, the ones we would be happy about, the one we never regret. The battle of  heart and mind begins here, to choose. To choose the best. Not everyone in life makes the best choice, but not all are given a second chance, a chance to revive their choices and their actions, a chance to choose the best.

In tough situations, when things aren't going in our way we are often afraid to make a choice as we are afraid of the consequences. But at that time all we have to do is be calm and make a choice as the key to achieve something is to take a step towards it. And believe me, we all have the power to make a correct choice. All we have to do is to just listen to our inner voice and choose wisely. So while making a choice don't lose focus from your goals and decide which is the most important & valuable thing to you.

Citing an example from my life, 3 years ago the choice I was confused about WHAT Next?? The biggest decision of life, what to pursue in life. What to choose as a career. Different roads, different opportunities, having things i liked and disliked, now taking a decision among these choices was proving to be a more tough task. In actual the choice wasn't really there actually. I wasn't  sure back then of what to do in life. As I was not sure,  I  had to follow the herd i.e  to go for an MBA, then work in the corporate world as a manager in MNC and live without a life. But as I didn't want a life like that, I decided to wait, as I had time to make my choice. I gave myself a much needed time and luckily it proved good for me.

So don't be afraid to make a move. BE FEARLESS. BE STRONG

In the end I just want to say that "WE ALL ARE THE SUM TOTAL OF CHOICES WE HAVE MADE AND CHOICES THAT ARE TO BE MADE"

When Love Becomes An Obsession

To start with, I am posting one of my old Article

Pyaar. Ishq. Mohabaat. Love.
Once in life we all have been in love or wants to be in love.. But what actually is love? Why sometime, someone becomes so important to us that our whole world is changed. We all have heared of love at first sight, but manyatimes we don't even know what a person would become after years of knowing or years of unknowing.
Love is a blossom feeling. It's like a sweet poison. Being in love reveals the other side of yours which is never seen with family or friends but only with your partner. In movie, "Pyaar Toh Hona hi Tha" , Om Puri said ," Har insan ko zindagi mai Pyaar zaroor karna chahiye..... Pyaar insaan ko bahut acha bana deta hai." (Every person should fall in love at least once in life....... Because love makes a person very good human being) But love become hazardous when it becomes an obsession.
We all are familiar with the iconic role of Shah Rukh Khan in "Darr", the story of an obsessive lover. We all saw the extent to which an obsessor can become dangerous.

In the beginning of a relationship passion is high. You want to spend more time with the other person either in person or on call. It feels good when someone takes that extra care , their attention and intensity feels good in the initial stage. But as it progresses, the obsessive person becomes more and more possessive and tries to limit the other person. They want to spend more and more time with other one as a result the other one is unable to give time to their family, friends and more importantly to themselves. As a result they want to get out of the relationship but find it harder to get away because of the obsessiveness of the other one.
Love makes a person good but the obsessiveness totally changes the behavior of a person. The root cause of it is insecurity. Insecurity about relationship, fear of being rejected. Obsessive lover might  have been rejected earlier by someone as a result they are now afraid of feeling the same pain of rejection again. Their past haunts them. They can't see themselves again in that state as a result their possessiveness over the other increases. They can't even think of losing that person and require constant reassurance from their partner that they are equally committed in their relationship.

In it Oscar  wants to say that obsessive love addiction makes a person corrupt and leads to destruction of other. They spoil and destroy the other person by the way they love them due to it the other person no longer remains the same as they were.
When an obsessive lover feels a threat in the relationship which could be real or perceived, their insecurity takes control over their mind and jealousy ,possessiveness and stalking start to rule the relationship. Stalking is a kind of Dating Violation in which the person is under constant surveillance. This involves following another person, checking their phones, hacking their accounts etc.All these things destroys the other person emotionally, physically and mentally. Obsessive lover tends to show off and often say again and again what they have done for their partner and they now owe back to them.
But my friend love is not about showing off, it's about giving selflessly. "Even after all this time The Sun never says to the Earth, "You owe me". Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky."

Let your love be free . Don't bound them. Don't let your insecurity get over you. Love is healthy and sweet when it is build on trust, belief and confidence but obsessiveness makes it pale.
In the end I just want to say
" Some promises are always Unwritten,
Some Memories are always Unseen,
Feel magic of True relationship and,
You'll Realise that true feelings
Are always Unspoken."
